Located within the northern part of Encinitas, the funky beachside community of Leucadia offers small-town charm within 25 miles of San Diego. With three secluded beaches, a quaint downtown area, and beautiful views and weather, Leucadia is a prime destination for those wanting a place off the beaten track. Leucadia’s three beaches— Grandview, Beacon’s, and Stone Steps—can be hard to find for those out of town; stairways lead down the bluffs to the relatively secluded beach areas below. The first two make up Leucadia State Beach, a state park run by Encinitas. The secluded status combined with the majestic waves of this part of the coast creates a mecca for surfers from both near and far. However, the natural quality of the beaches provides a beautiful setting for day-trippers as well.
